Love for Food

I would go as far as saying, that in Germany I wouldn’t want to live in any other city than Berlin, but that was until I visited my BFF Tatjana in Hamburg for a weekend. What a chill city!! Not too big, not too small, on the coast, maritime feeling, people keep checking each other out on the street – in a good way, you can eat lots of Fischbrötchen while chatting with vendors that wear sailor hats, I mean isn’t that the dream?! Here are some tips and pictures of super fun stuff we did during the weekend. /// Eu diria que na Alemanha não moraria em outra cidade a não ser Berlin, porém isso foi antes de visitar minha BFF Tatjana em Hamburgo por um final de semana. Que cidade bacana!! Nem grande demais, nem pequena demais, no litoral, clima marítimo, pessoas ficam se olhando – rola um flerte momentâneo sem compromisso –, e você pode comer muitos 'Fischbrötchen' enquanto bate um papo com vendedores que usam chapéus de marinheiro, não é um sonho?! Aqui vão algumas dicas e fotos de coisas divertidíssimas que fizemos durante o final de semana. Friday /// Sexta 1. Lunch at Café Paris, loud and agitated, great food and art deco. /// 1. Almoço no Café Paris, barulhento e agitado, comida ótima e art deco.2. Boat trip around the harbor, use the public transportation instead of the tourist boats and save yourself some money. /// 2. Passeio de barco pelo porto, utilize o transporte público ao invés dos barcos de turista e economize um dinheiro. 3. A walk through the old ‘Speicherstadt’ where the ships used to enter and unload using ropes to pull their goods up to the storage floors. The old brick buildings and canals are just beautiful. /// 3. Um passeio pela velha ‘Speicherstadt’, onde os barcos entravam para descarregar suas mercadorias, usando cordas para subir tudo para os depósitos. Os antigos prédios de tijolos e os canais são simplesmente lindos. Mix of old and new buildings in the Speicherstadt. /// Mistura de prédio antigos e novos na Speicherstadt.4. At night we walked around the ‘Kiez’ with its famous ‘Reeperbahn’ where you will find lots of tourist traps, drunk wannabe sailors and peep shows. It’s okay to see it once, but I don’t have the need to go back. /// 4. A noite demos uma volta no ‘Kiez’ com sua famosa ‘Reeperbahn’ onde você encontra muitas armadilhas de turistas, bêbados se achando marinheiros e shows de strip tease. É de boa ver uma vez, mas não sinto a necessidade de voltar. Saturday 1. Flea market at ‘Flohschanze’ – antiques and used items, I was surprised by the fair prices and got a green felt hat for only 2€. Also great to stroll around and go for a coffee later on the ‘Schanze’. Rule for any flea market: get there early for the good stuff. /// Sábado 1. Mercado de pulgas no ‘Flohschanze’ – peças antigas e usadas, fiquei surpresa pelos preços justos e comprei um chapéu de feltro verde por apenas 2€. Também é bacana para um passeio com direito a um café depois na ‘Schanze’. Regra para qualquer mercado de pulga: quem chegar cedo consegue as coisas boas. 2. Refreshments and cake at Herr Max, cute café with homemade goodies and cozy interior. Then a stroll down the ‘Schanze’, main road of the hippest district. /// 2. Bebidas refrescantes e bolo no Herr Max, um café fofo com doces caseiros e um interior aconchegante. Depois, um passeio pela ‘Schanze', rua principal do bairro mais hip. 3. At night we went out for some drinks, a late night kebab and then tried to stay awake for a special experience: Hamburg’s famous fish market that opens every Sunday at 5am. The vibe is just unique, early risers and party people eating fish sandwiches and buying enormous fruit baskets for 10€, all accompanied by the sunrise. Wow! /// 3. A noite saímos para tomar uns drinks, um kebab noturno e depois nos mantemos acordadas para uma experiência especial: o mercado de peixe de Hamburgo, que acontece todo Domingo a partir das 5 da manhã. A vibe é única, os madrugeiros e povo saindo da night comendo sanduíches de peixe e comprando cestas enormes de frutas por 10€, tudo acompanhado pelo amanhecer. Wow!
Sunday 1. Since we went to bed at 7 in the morning, we got some sleep first and then got up and visited the botanic garden. Walked around the flowers and sat down in the grass to relax. /// Domingo 1. Já que fomos dormir as 7 das manhã, primeiro dormimos um pouco e visitamos o jardim botânico. Demos uma volta pelas flores e sentamos na grama para relaxar.
